Råkade ut för detta fel på en burk med Win XP Prof.
Hittade till slut detta tips (efter att ha testat div andra tips) som löste problemet för mig.

Had the same problem. Well... it worked for me.
Downloaded Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool KB890830 from the
microsoft site
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=AD724AE0-E72D-4F54-9AB3-75B8EB148356&displaylang=en
This tool checks your computer for infection, nevertheless it did not find
any infected file. Anyway, afterwards I could install my updates again.
